Plymouth State U. Adjuncts Vote to Unionize

December 21, 2011, 2:26 pm

Adjunct faculty members at Plymouth State University have voted to form a union, The Laconia Daily Sun of New Hampshire reports. The adjunct faculty members voted, 60 to 43, to form the new collective-bargaining unit, which will be affiliated with the Service Employees International Union through the State Employees’ Association of New Hampshire, the newspaper says. In arguing the need for a new union, labor organizers pointed to Keene State College, where adjunct instructors who used to make less than those at Plymouth State now make about $500 more per credit as a result of unionizing in 1993.
