Petition to Protect Federal Student Aid From Cuts Draws 36,000 Signatures

November 2, 2011, 6:05 pm

The Student Aid Alliance, a group representing 62 higher-education associations, has surpassed 36,000 signatures on a petition to spare federal student-aid programs from budget cuts by Congress. David L. Warren, president of the National Association of Independent Colleges and Universities, said students and campus leaders must speak out for federal student-loan programs and remind legislators that $30-billion has already been cut from the programs.

This is one of the ways that wealth needs to be balanced better.  Far more resources need to be dedicated to educating a workforce that will be needed to support the economy and rebalance the wealth equation.  And ironically, in doing so, the 1% will protect their wealth better than in any other way they could do it….while at the same time creating opportunity for the 99%.  Classic win/win.
