In an effort to avoid the unwanted exodus of faculty members and administrators that can occur in response to a campus-wide early-retirement offer, Ohio State University trustees have approved a program that allows each of its colleges and administrative units to offer buyouts as needed, reports The Plain Dealer. University officials said the new option would benefit colleges that knew they wanted to cut the size of one program and bolster another.
