The Oberlin Conservatory of Music was honored as a recipient of the 2009 National Medal of Arts at a White House ceremony today. The conservatory is a division of Oberlin College, in Ohio. President Obama presented the awards, the nation’s highest honor for artists and patrons of the arts, to two organizations and 10 individuals. The other organization honored was the School of American Ballet, in New York. For a list of the individual winners, see an announcement by the National Endowment for the Arts.
