Nevada’s higher-education budget could take a big hit during a special session of the state Legislature next week. Gov. Jim Gibbons, a Republican, is proposing that all state agencies — including public higher-education institutions — cut their budgets by 10 percent, according to the Las Vegas Review-Journal. The governor is also calling for college professors to take a 2-percent pay cut, on top of a 4-percent reduction last year.
