Near-completers, those students who are no longer enrolled but are eligible to receive a college degree or are just shy of meeting the requirements, were the topic on Tuesday among federal and state policy makers at a meeting in Washington convened by the Institute for Higher Education Policy. Researchers and college administrators were also present to talk about luring such students back to college, in the context of meeting President Obama’s college-completion goal. Conference participants learned about current projects and discussed the challenges presented by the near-completer population.
