In a report released on Wednesday, the NCAA’s Division I Committee on Infractions said a former assistant basketball coach at Georgia Southern University committed “unethical conduct” in violating the rules by, among other things, instructing a former director of basketball operations to write papers and complete tests for one of the athletes. In addition to other penalties, the NCAA placed Georgia Southern on probation for two years, and the basketball program will lose one scholarship through the 2011-12 academic year.
