National Research Council Warns on Nanotechnology

The federally chartered National Research Council is joining those who are warning about the possible environmental, health, and safety implications of nanotechnology. Nanoscale engineering—the development and use of materials at the molecular level—is a highly promising subject of research, in areas that include medicine, food, and electronics. But, the National Research Council says in a report issued today, more needs to be done to assess and handle the widespread risks that may accompany such technological innovation.
