After two years of discussions, the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education and the Teacher Education Accreditation Council announced today that they would become one association. The new group, the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation, will not only set standards for educating elementary- and secondary-school teachers, but also will be an advocate for using evidence-based research on what works to prepare successful teachers, according to a press release from the groups.
