The Southern Association of Colleges and Schools’ Commission on Colleges will stand by its decision to remove the accreditation of Lambuth University, the Tennessee institution’s president told faculty members on Thursday. But according to a statement on its Web site, Lambuth has already obtained a preliminary court order to keep its accreditation in force “while the university pursues a legal case with SACS and examines other options,” the president, Bill Seymour, said. Other institutions have taken the SACS to court before to retain their accreditation pending legal challenges. One, Edward Waters College, in Florida, ultimately succeeded in having its accreditation restored.
