A laboratory technician who worked in the same Yale University lab as a medical student strangled last week was arrested this morning and charged with the murder. According to the Yale Daily News, the technician, Raymond Clark III, was tied to the killing because his DNA matched DNA on a piece of evidence at the crime scene. Authorities say the medical student, 24-year-old Annie Le, was killed on September 8, but her body was not found until Sunday, the planned day of her wedding, because it was hidden in an unusually thick wall. A lawyer for Mr. Clark, also 24, said his client was “committed to proceeding appropriately with the authorities.” The authorities have offered no motive for the crime, but the New Haven police chief told The New York Times: “It is important to note that this is not about urban crime, university crime, domestic crime but an issue of workplace violence, which is becoming a growing concern around the country.”
