The Board of Regents of the Kentucky Community and Technical College System on Friday rescinded its March vote to stop offering tenure to new hires, according to The Courier-Journal of Louisville. The regents’ decision came days after the state’s attorney general issued an advisory opinion saying the board lacked the authority to abolish tenure entirely because state law calls for the system’s faculty members to be offered a chance to earn it. The Courier-Journal quoted the board’s president, Thomas Zawacki, saying after the vote that the board disagreed with the attorney general’s opinion but also believed “it is time to move forward.”
