A former associate professor at Ohio University, Bhavin V. Mehta, has lost a defamation lawsuit that he filed against the university after it concluded in a report that he and others had permitted students to engage in “rampant and flagrant plagiarism” in theses for more than 20 years, according to The Columbus Dispatch. The university had argued that the report’s findings were protected by the First Amendment, and a judge in the Court of Claims of Ohio agreed.
