A federal judge has ruled that a discrimination case brought by Howard L. Ross, a former dean at the University of Wisconsin at Whitewater, should proceed to trial, the Associated Press reported. Mr. Ross was demoted in 2006 after an audit questioned his use of university money. The judge, J.P. Stadtmueller of the U.S. District Court in Milwaukee, said a jury should decide whether the audit was racially motivated, as Mr. Ross alleges. The judge also threw out the university’s countersuit trying to force Mr. Ross to pay back $117,000.
