U. of Tennessee to Review ‘Alcohol Enema’ That Put Student in Hospital

W. Timothy Rogers, the university’s vice chancellor for student life, said on Thursday that he was “shocked” by news-media reports of an incident at the campus chapter of the Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity on Saturday in which members allegedly gave an underage student an alcohol enema that sent him to the hospital with a high blood-alcohol level. The student’s father, meanwhile, has questioned some of the information released by the local police department. The fraternity’s national office suspended the campus chapter for 30 days, and university officials have also suspended the chapter indefinitely pending the results of an investigation.


Rogers said he has fielded phone calls from parents of students in the fraternity and from parents of students not associated with the organization because of the national exposure the incident has garnered.
