The student, Gil Collar, was shot and killed by a campus police officer in October. The police and witnesses said the student was nude and acting erratically when he arrived at the police station and began threatening the officer.
“There was no justification for shooting the young man,” said Montgomery lawyer Jere Beasley who represents Collar’s parents.
Beasley said the officer should not have fired unless his life was threatened.
The Mobile District Attorney’s Office is investigating whether the use of deadly force was justified.
