The college’s Board of Trustees voted on Friday to overhaul the troubled institution’s governance structure in an effort to save $2-million and keep it open and accredited. The move is expected to send dozens of department chairs back to the classroom, cutting a stipend they received in their administrative roles. Faculty members at a meeting objected to the change, arguing that departments should be run by professors who are experts in their fields, rather than by deans who have no expertise and who oversee several departments at once.
