Charges Are Dropped Against Tennessee Professor Who Was Arrested at Meeting

Jane M. Davis, an associate professor of English and chair of the Faculty Senate at Tennessee State University, faced a misdemeanor charge of disorderly conduct after she was arrested during a meeting in which she clashed with the university’s interim president. Ms. Davis has been at odds with Tennessee State’s administration since accusing university officials of improperly changing students’ grades, though an audit cleared them of those allegations.

David Raybin, a lawyer for Ms. Davis, said the school dropped the charges in a hearing Monday morning and a judge dismissed the case. … Even though the charges were dropped, Ms. Davis said that she has not ruled out filing a civil lawsuit againt the university. “People need to be held accountable for their actions,” she said.
