James E. Hunton, an accounting professor at Bentley University, in Massachusetts, will leave the institution this month in the midst of an internal investigation of a scholarly article he co-authored that was retracted from the American Accounting Association’s journal Accounting Review. A spokeswoman for the institution said Mr. Hunton was resigning for “family and health reasons.”
