Tens of thousands of military veterans in college have not received the February payments they were due under the GI Bill, and the Department of Veterans Affairs says severe snowstorms at check-processing centers at four locations across the country are to blame, according to The Virginian-Pilot, a newspaper in Norfolk, Va. About 55,000 students still await the money, which helps pay for tuition and living expenses. The VA says the check-processing centers have reopened and the checks will be on their way within seven to 10 days.
