Bandeirante University, a private institution outside of São Paolo, has expelled a student who was at the center of raucous protests on the campus last month after she wore a short pink dress to class, the Associated Press reported. The university also published newspaper ads accusing the student, Geisy Arruda, of immorality. A legal adviser for the university insisted on Sunday that Ms. Arruda had been expelled for “gestures” and “attitudes” rather than her clothing, Reuters reported. The university also suspended a number of students identified in widely shown videos of the protests last month.
