The University of Connecticut’s former president, Philip E. Austin, will take over as the institution’s interim president until a replacement is found for Michael J. Hogan, who recently accepted the president’s job at the University of Illinois. Mr. Austin, who was appointed to the interim post Friday, was president from 1996 to 2007. He has since remained a member of the faculty, teaching about higher-education leadership.
