Florida’s attorney general has added three for-profit colleges to the roster of proprietary institutions he is investigating over allegations that they lied to would-be students about financial aid and engaged in other deceptive recruiting practices, according to the Sun Sentinel, a Florida newspaper. The original probe, disclosed last month, concerned five for-profit colleges. Since then, the attorney general, Bill McCollum, has expanded the inquiry to include Keiser University, based in Florida; Concorde Career Colleges, based in Kansas; and Sanford Brown College, owned by the Career Education Corporation and based in Illiinois.
