Faculty Union at Bowling Green State U. Approves Its First Contract

Members of Bowling Green State University’s faculty union have voted overwhelmingly to approve their first collective-bargaining agreement, about three years after they moved to form a union affiliated with the American Association of University Professors. The university’s Faculty Association said last week that 97 percent of voters had approved the agreement, which its president said in a news release was a “very good first contract.” The agreement, if approved by the university’s Board of Trustees, would include raises, certain protections for faculty members, and other benefits. The union represents some 850 full-time faculty members, including those who work off the tenure track.
