An amendment to a Kansas appropriations bill intended to increase support for higher education by $3.6-million actually reduces the budget by that amount, The Topeka Capital-Journal reports. The Kansas Board of Regents is asking the governor to veto the error, which would drop higher education’s financing below a level that allows the regents to use federal stimulus money.
