English Professor at UMass-Dartmouth Wins Discrimination Case

The University of Massachusetts at Dartmouth has been ordered to pay an English professor $354,000 in lost wages and damages after she complained of being discriminated against because of her gender and Chinese ancestry. The Massachusetts Commission Against Discrimination also ordered the university to promote LuLu Sun, an associate professor of English, to full professor—a step the agency described as “unprecedented.” A university spokesman said officials were reviewing the decision.
