Drexel University and the Academy of Natural Sciences, the nation’s oldest natural-history museum, intend to merge, the university announced today. While the academy will retain its own board and nonprofit status, it will be known as the Academy of Natural Sciences of Drexel University. The merger, which is designed to advance the natural- and environmental-science expertise of both institutions, is supported by a $1-million grant from the Pew Charitable Trusts.
