A panel examining the future of public higher education in Colorado recommended increasing money for colleges and universities to $1.5-billion annually, roughly double the current allocation, according to the Fort Collins Coloradoan. The panel, convened by Gov. Bill Ritter last year, found that Colorado’s higher-education system is “alarming and deteriorating,” and called for a tax-increase measure on next year’s ballot.
