Chicago State University’s new president is officially a visitor on the campus. Wayne D. Watson was supposed to start as president on August 1, but that meant he couldn’t start collecting a pension from his previous job as chancellor of the City Colleges of Chicago. Today, the Chicago Tribune reported, the university’s board came up with a fix, changing the starting date in Mr. Watson’s contract to October 1. The pension flap has not endeared Mr. Watson to faculty leaders, who protested the search process that hired him.
