The University of Regina, in Saskatchewan, has so much confidence in its graduates that it’s giving them a job guarantee with their degrees. According to a news release issued today, the university promises students who complete the new UR Guarantee program’s requirements that they will get a “a great job within six months of graduation” or they can return to the university for an additional 30 hours of free credit-bearing courses.

Do you need to prove that you tried to get a job? Do your 30 free hours have to be in your previous program of study? If not, a graduate can spend 6-months travelling and then use the hours as a bursary toward a graduate degree. Of course, you do need to go to Regina to take advantage . . .

HAHAHAH. Only a university would guarentee its product with more product. If you are not sastified with what we promise (university degree = job) then we will give you more of the product that you are not sastified with. I believe the industry standard is: If you are not sastified with the product and its promise, we will refund you your money. If it didn’t work the first time, why the hell would it work the second. Plus, living is Regina is like prision–once you get out, why go back.

This seems like a tough promise to keep, but if they can deliver than it sounds fantastic. Does anyone know someone that went through a degree program at this university? If so I’m curious to hear if the guarantee was honored.
