California’s state controller said Tuesday that he would ask all 72 of the state’s community-college districts to file information about each employee’s salary for a public database intended to cover all state agencies, The Sacramento Bee reported. The controller, John Chiang, joined the state community-college chancellor, Jack Scott, in writing a letter saying that the 2.7-million-student community-college system “has earned and must continue to earn the public’s confidence that it provides education in a cost-efficient manner.” Instructions for submitting the information will be distributed in October, the letter says.
