A student at Abilene Christian University was killed on Friday in a bus crash while on a university-sponsored trip to a center for disadvantaged children, single mothers, and abuse victims in San Antonio. According to the San Angelo Standard Times, a newspaper in a city near the crash site, the trip included 12 students, three faculty members, and a faculty spouse from the Texas university. In addition to the student who died, 13 of them suffered injuries. A police officer said the bus drifted out of control near Paint Rock, Tex., struck a culvert, and flipped. The university said the passengers were en route to the Medina Children’s Home, part of a periodic mission of providing service to the facility. More information is at the university’s Web site.
