Brandeis University, which created a firestorm last year when it announced it would close its Rose Art Museum and sell its art to cover a budget deficit, may now lend some of its valuable artwork for a fee rather than sell it, The Boston Globe reported. Brandeis confirmed that it was planning to hire Sotheby’s auction house as a broker, a move university leaders hope will allow Brandeis to keep its art while still raising needed revenue.
