A field-hockey player at the State University of New York at Morrisville is facing disorderly-conduct charges after she pretended to be a kidnap victim in a team van on Saturday on the New York State Thruway, The Post-Standard, a newspaper in Syracuse, N.Y., reported. Passing motorists saw the athlete with tape over her mouth and holding up a sign that said, “Help I’ve been kidnapped.” State troopers pulled over the van and determined that she had not been abducted, the Associated Press reported.
