David Coleman, a leader in an effort to develop common core-curriculum standards for schools across the nation, has been named as the next president of the College Board, The New York Times reported. The College Board is among the groups that have helped design the standards, which cover learning goals from kindergarten through high school and are meant to ensure that all high-school graduates are ready for college. Mr. Coleman will succeed Gaston Caperton, who has led the College Board since 1999 and announced his plans to step down last year.
