The American Association of University Professors lifted its censure of Tulane University after the college agreed that it wouldn’t cite the association’s action while defending itself in lawsuits filed by faculty members who lost their jobs in a campuswide retrenchment that followed Hurricane Katrina. Tulane was one of four New Orleans colleges censured by the AAUP in 2007 for their actions in the wake of the devastating hurricane. Still on the list: the University of New Orleans and Loyola University New Orleans. The association lifted its censure of Southern University at New Orleans last year.
