Finlandia University, in Hancock, Mich., needed growing room. The former mining town had a classroom building to spare, along with a nearby athletics field. According to the Associated Press, town and gown struck a deal that gives Finlandia the property and, for the next 12 years, gives graduates of Hancock Central High who qualify for admission free tuition.
