Three Ivy League professors are urging rich Americans, who will benefit the most from the extension of the Bush-era tax cuts, to donate the money they save to charity. According to The Chronicle of Philanthropy, the professors—Jacob Hacker, a political scientist at Yale; Daniel Markovits, a law professor at Yale; and Robert Hockett, a law professor at Cornell—have created a Web site called Give It Back for Jobs. The site enables users to calculate how much money they will save through the tax cuts, which were introduced under former President George W. Bush and were extended in a deal this month between President Obama and Republicans in Congress. The site suggests four charities, selected for their efforts in promoting economic recovery for the middle class.
