Lake Michigan College’s Board of Trustees has unanimously approved a rule that restricts the enrollment of felons and sex offenders, according to a local newspaper, the Herald Palladium. Under the new policy, felons and sex offenders are denied admission by default but may seek an individual review to determine whether they may attend the community college. The new rule follows a ban on enrolling child sex offenders, enacted in February after administrators discovered that such an offender had attempted to register for a class. The college subsequently allowed one such offender to enroll.
