About 10,000 copies of the Arizona Daily Wildcat, the student-run newspaper at the University of Arizona, were stolen from campus newsstands this morning. It estimated it had lost $8,500 in advertising revenue and production costs. The newspaper reported that it had received tips that a fraternity that was mentioned in a crime report was responsible for the theft, but fraternity leaders would not comment on that accusation. The paper is free, but unauthorized removal of multiple copies is considered theft.
