I just read the article on “declining student empathy”.  This gave me hope!

This young lady is amazing!  She displays the very best our young people can be.  She will be a credit to whatever community she decides to settle in and they will be very fortunate to have her.

When I was a lad, it was common for students at colleges located in the God-forsaken outbacks of upstate New York to join the local volunteer fire departments.

Also most medical schools require some practical medical experience for application. An EMT requires only about 150 hours of training after which the required experience is paid. When I trained as an EMT about half the students in the class were college pre-meds.

EMT training in California is usually FREE at an ROP.
