Given how many folks have either started classes already, or are on the verge of starting the semester, and mindful of Natalie’s frustration with the metaphor of back-to-work as the salt mines, I thought that in this week’s Open Thread Wednesday, we’d invite people to share what they are excited about for the upcoming semester. (It’s gotta be the US presidential election, right?)
To start things off, here are three things I’m excited about this fall:
- I’m teaching some of my favorite classes, on Dickens and on cyberpunk. (Those are different classes, although Cyberpunk Dickens or Dickensian Cyberpunk would also–obviously be awesome.)
- The Dickens class is using the HIGHBROW Annotation Browser, which I think’ll be fun.
- In general, I’m just excited for a fresh start.
