Prof. Hacker is, as our name suggests, officially committed to technological solutions when possible. I keep my calendar on 30boxes.com, and I think George uses Google’s calendar, and both of us have iPhones. God help me, I even use the calendaring feature in Entourage, since many staff on campus use Exchange calendaring in Outlook. (Yes, there’s a post coming on online calendars!)
But it’s still nice to have a planner that you can write in. Plus, I like the ritual of having to reconcile my various calendars–it makes me less likely to forget meetings.
My planner of choice is the Moleskine Daily Planner–the large one, so I don’t lose it, in red because it’s visually distinctive. (So many people have a black planner, whether in leather, pleather, or moleskine.) And look! The 2010 planners are out.
Do you still use a daily planner? Have a preference?

I haven’t used a planner since….ok…I’ve never used a planner. Most of my scheduling takes place on my MBP. I use iCal and sync it with Google Calendar (mostly as a backup). I do have a moleskin in which I scribble stuff down regularly (including planning type info). I also have a tendency to scribble down little notes and scheduling info on sticky notes and stick them to the the inside of my MBP – below the keyboard and next to the trackpad.

I don’t use a physical planner/calendar. I always started with the best of intentions and bogged down in writing the same things over and over. [I believe cut-and-paste changed my life, and not just with calendars.] I used Palm Desktop for years, even after my Palm Tungsten C died. I now use Google Calendar, synced with an iPod Touch (multiple, shared calendars are critical to keeping work and family life synced).
But, like Ethan, I use lots of sticky notes as well as mini to-do-right-now lists (with Google Tasks as my long term reminder of those items — new integration of Tasks with GCal has been very useful).
