Two academics were among the winners in the National Book Awards, taking prizes for poetry and fiction.
Terrance Hayes, a professor of English at Carnegie Mellon University, won for his poetry collection Lighthead (Penguin). The university has uploaded a video reading by Hayes on youtube.
Jaimy Gordon, a professor of English at Western Michigan University, won for her
