The American Educational Research Association has signed a non-exclusive, co-publishing agreement with the Lanham, Md.-based publisher Rowman & Littlefield. So far there are two books in the pipeline, says Patti Belcher, R&L’s acquiring editor for education. The first co-publication, Studying Diversity in Teacher Education, due out in November, is a collection of essays edited by Arnetha F. Ball, a professor of education at Stanford University and the president-elect of AERA, and Cynthia A. Tyson, an associate professor in the School of Learning and Teaching at Ohio State University. A second title, Research on Schools, Neighborhoods and Communities: Toward Civic Responsibility, edited by William F. Tate IV of Washington University in St. Louis, is slated for release in 2011. AERA contracts book by book, says Belcher, “so that they can get the best fit for the right book in their publishing program.” —Nina Ayoub
