UMass at Dartmouth Cuts Two Vice-Chancellors

May 4, 2009, 9:56 am

The University of Massachusetts at Dartmouth is cutting two of its five vice-chancellor positions, as part of a belt-tightening plan, the Providence Business News reports:

Dr. Jean Kim, vice chancellor for student affairs, will leave the university and Dr. Robert Green, vice chancellor for library services, information and technology, will retire.

In 2008, Kim earned $171,999 and Green earned $169,443, according to a state payroll database maintained by the Boston Herald.

Their duties will be picked up by other departments. Meanwhile, five other nonunion positions will also be cut, — “largely in the financial and management end,” John Hoey, a UMD spokesman, told a reporter for The Standard-Times.

According to the Providence Business News, a pay freeze for all nonunion executives whose take home pay exceeds $120,000 will also be extended through at least June 2010.
