U. of Michigan Plans to Hire More Professors

Mary Sue Coleman, president of the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor, has announced a plan to hire 100 new tenure-track faculty members over the next five years, Paula Wasley reports on The Chronicle’s News Blog.

Under the $30-million plan, $10-million will be set aside for salaries and benefits and $20-million will go toward start-up costs to lure junior faculty members who can work across disciplines, Wasley writes. Read more.
