Sou Desu Ne?

If you think women in the United States have a hard time getting ahead in academe, be thankful you don’t live in Japan. Did you know that among Japan’s 87 national universities, there’s only a single female president? And that only 7 percent of Japan’s 750 or so colleges and universities are led by women? Talk about a glass ceiling. Check out David McNeill’s interesting report in the latest issue of The Chronicle to learn more.
