And in recent presidential news …

Oral Roberts University’s president, Richard L. Roberts, stepped down last week amid allegations that he used university funds to back a local politician, The Chronicle’s News Blog reports.
Wesley College’s 10-year president, Scott D. Miller, has said that he plans to leave in December to lead Bethany College, a small liberal-arts college in West Virginia, the Associated Press reports. For more information, see a Wesley College press release.
Jerry F. Bartlett, president of Athens State University, has announced he will retire in August 2008, after 41 years at the school and 18 in the top job, the Associated Press reports. See a university press release for details.
Fletcher M. Lamkin, president of Westminster College, in Fulton, Mo., stepped down last Friday, after seven years on the job, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports. Barney Forsythe, Westminster’s senior vice president and dean of the faculty, was named interim president, the reporter, Kavita Kumar, writes.
Meanwhile, Pennsylvania State University’s president, Graham B. Spanier, was elected chairman of the Association of American Universities on Tuesday, the Associated Press reports.
