Green Mountain College’s governing board has picked Paul J. Fonteyn, provost and senior vice chancellor of academic affairs at the University of Massachusetts at Boston, to be the college’s next president, effective July 5, the Burlington Free Press reports. He will replace John F. Brennan, who is retiring in June.
The longtime president of Northwestern University, Henry S. Bienen, has announced that he will retire next year, The Chronicle’s News Blog reports.
Meanwhile, elsewhere on the News Blog, Paul Fain notes that North Carolina is the only state that allows all its public-college presidential searches to be conducted behind closed doors.
